The Power of Connectivity
Yesterday I met with a management professor from the temple university in Philadelphia, who was doing a workshop with our leadership team on Innovation and through it the power of connecting with customers. He talked about how companies all across the world are creating virtual offices and their connectivity with forums to bring thoughts for innovation that are aligned to their customers for maximum benefit.
The professor shared a small innovative story of Nokia phones in India. Their decision to place a small hook on the top of the mobile phone saw a big jump in their sales. I asked why? He said in India during monsoon, people generally prefer to hang their phones for ease of use and safety.
I hear that many companies today are creating platforms where such customer centric focus is available, one that brings in greater collaboration, both from within and outside the organization to deliver a proposition that is truly unique. It’s no longer about where the idea is coming from; it’s about capturing the best idea even if it means, that it’s coming from the outside!
Technology and the various enabling platforms are changing the way the world is thinking and communicating. Such platforms and the opportunity they create forces a keen mind to further engage his thoughts and shaping the decisions that he makes.
Today your mobile phone is your conduit to the world, it allows you to either invite or reach out to the world. Technology is the great enabler, helping us all do our jobs better in this busy world.
The companies of tomorrow must create such platforms that encourage dialogue and collaboration.
Time to connect with the world!
