Escorts – “Republic Day”
A few days ago, India celebrated its 64th Republic Day. We took immense pride at the parade and the men in uniform that defend our country and the cultural diversity which is so unique and the source of our strength.
Escorts Ltd. as a company, this year will publish its 67th Annual Report to its shareholders.
This realization caused me to pause and reflect.
Escorts has been a part of the rural Indian landscape for decades – ever since H. P. Nanda dreamt of mechanizing Indian agriculture and saw so clearly, that this great nation will emerge from the bullock cart, to take its rightful place amongst nations. Countless farming families and generations have placed their trust and in turn have experienced Escorts as a part of their daily lives.
Toiling in the fields, the Indian Farmer has provided food and nutrition not only to his family, but to the critical food security of the nation. To us, at Escorts, he is the true unsung Hero. And in mechanizing Indian farms, Escorts has consistently sought to significantly improve the economic prosperity of the Indian farmer and to be part of his growth.
But we have sought to expand the founder’s vision. Some two decades ago Rajan Nanda saw clearly that the nation’s builders will use machines to move materials, excavate earth, build a modern road network and the nations’ airports and ports. Machines will replace labor as Indians seek to move towards intellectual development.
The engineering skill at Escorts is fearsome. Our engineers are the other unsung heroes. Seizing the challenge, we have not only absorbed technology but also sought to bring it to world standards. At Escorts, we do this everyday of our working life. Escorts Construction Equipment was born with this dream.
As we work towards modernizing our machines, our engineers spare no effort in ensuring a product that exceeds the farmers’ expectations. Today as we strive to build a modern multi product Escorts –we seek to leave our mark in the infrastructure machinery sector, auto and rail component space and through our products be a silent agent of change to our society.
This is our mission and we will not falter.
