Armaan Jain – A follower of his dreams

#RimaJain is my Maasi ( My mother’s sister) and in many ways like a God-Mother to both me and my sister. Her husband Mr. #ManojJain, one of the nicest and most decent men I’ve met so far. Their two boys and my cousins – Aadar and Armaan, are even a greater reflection of their parents.

In life, to be able to identify and tap into knowing what we all want out of life, is one of the most important and difficult thing to do….. Tapping into our voice sometimes can create challenges because it’s tough to get that clarity from within…. Tougher than we think! And once we get the clarity of knowing what we want out of life, then its all about working towards its goal and learning how to succeed in it…….

Why I write all of this? Because my cousin #Armaan-Jain, who I am so proud of, had the courage to say to himself when he was in his late teens (five years back) to his family that he wanted to be an actor. Not an easy thing to say when you’re half way to completing a business degree from one of London’s top universities… Kudos to him and his parents for supporting his inner voice!!!! Few parents would ever back their kids in such a situation..

Me and my cousin Armaan with our Grandmother – Mrs. Krishna Raj Kapoor

His parents decided to support his dreams and requested none other than #KaranJohar(One of our top directors and producers in India) to train Armaan under him for 3 years.. The day Armaan completed his training with Karan, the very next day he was offered his first movie…… This was truly unexpected and a perfect timing…

So hearing all of this, we all were very excited for #Armaan and more so when we learned that he would spend few weeks in Delhi to train for the movie…. So I excitedly enquired from Armaan about his dates and training schedule for Delhi, as we all were looking forward to spending our time with him…So when I called him, this is the way it went between him and me ” Niky bhaiya (that’s what he calls me ) I have to travel from Agra to Delhi on a train in third class and I am looking forward to it. And once I arrive into Delhi, I will be staying with a family who runs a small T-shirt shop and I have to get to know their way of life, coz in the movie I have to play a role of a character who comes from a lower middle class family. So you cannot pick me up from the station because that family will be there… And for the next two weeks I will live, eat and do everything with this family in a way as if I were one of their own children”

I was taken aback and impressed with the manner this was all organized..

Soon after he finished his training, we had dinner with Armaan’s director – #-Arif-Ali (brother of Imtiaz Ali) at my parents home. It was my first meeting with Arif and he did come across as someone who is very passionate about what he does and the conversation was most enjoyable (thanks Arif & look forward to seeing you again).

The dinner was near #Christmas and Arif was trying to convince Armaan (who was sitting next to me at the dining table) to extend Armaan’s stay at Delhi beyond New year, knowing very well that he did not want that for him. The idea was really to get Armaan annoyed and get him a bit angry and have him say directly to Arif that he was not comfortable in extending his stay at Delhi and he wanted to get back home in time for new year with his family.

Hearing the conversation between Armaan and his director I asked Arif that “what did he enjoy about being a director” and he was quick to say “An ability of a director is to bring out different emotions of a character and also help the character to understand the emotions that he has not experienced yet.”
After hearing this, the delaying tactics of Armaan for new years started to make sense and then I understood that Arif was truly trying to get Armaan to experience a different part of himself – ‘#An-Emotion-of-Discomfort’.

In short, we all should live without fear and live with an ability to run after our dreams.. no matter what our friends or family may have in store for us ….. This story is a live example of my cousin who is running after his dreams and it’s a matter of time that the world will soon run after him….I have no doubt about it.

Armaan, we all wish you good luck and God bless you. As I have said before that “We always knew that you were a star and now it’s time for the world to realise it!”

I am enclosing a link below of his movie trailer….Don’t miss it and you all can see Armaan on the 4th of July in a cinema near your home……

God Bless!
