A lesson from a Monk
Sharing a story as narrated by one of our CEO’s recently at a Sales Workshop….
“There was once a well know monk who was very powerful and a respected man in his village. One day a mouse came by and requested the monk to turn him into a cat, as he was afraid that a cat would eat him away and if he were a cat then he would have no fear and would live fearlessly. The monk told him not to disturb him again and granted him his wish.
Next month the cat came back and told the monk that he still felt afraid of being eaten up by the fox and now his wish was to turn him into a fox, so that he could live a fearless life. The monk now was perturbed with such repeated requests and finally gave in and granted his wish and turned him into a fox.
The fox was back again in a months time and wanted to turn himself into a tiger, as he still felt vulnerable. Feeling that being a tiger was the most powerful animal and that he will have no more fears as he will rule the jungle. The monk told him that this was the last time that he would do any of this and turned him into a tiger.
After a month the tiger was back to the monk and still complained about having fears! The monk looked at him and said, “your problem is that you think like a mouse….. “
In life, our thoughts determine who we become and it’s important to remind ourselves that we all in real life are tigers and therefore can do so much more…..
So think like a tiger and not like a mouse!!
